you basically got it. but it's,
"the grass is always greener on the other side." other side of the fence, so it's perfect that you were shooting through a fence.

the green bit doesn't apply to MY neighbours (the grass grows once a year).... can I move in nextdoor to you?

Because the GRASS in the neighbors garden isnt particullaly green - Its the shruberry which is lush therefore I didnt think the phrase the grass is always greener applied in this instance. Ci?!
